Notes & Combos

A bit late but that Rush banlist is really, really bad. Just kill Metarion because that deck is genuine cancer when it is relevant and prevents some decks to even compete.

Anyway, pure Gaia, while severely weakened from the hits, is still good, and while nowhere near as strong as my previous list of it, I still was able to smoothly rise to KoG with it, although I had to wait for the banlist to be implemented and was busy with other stuff to do it sooner.

  • The Gaia core (x3 Battletested Gaia, x3 Curse of Dragon, 1x Gaia, Poly + Fusions) is self-explanatory. Although I am running just 1 Gaia because running multiples can cause a lot of bricking, and we cannot use Secret Order anymore so the one copy is more than enough.

  • Winged Dragon (x3) is a good Normal Dragon body that can be sent to GY with the skill.

  • Fortitude Dragon (x3) and Dragon's Fortitude (x1) are still good in this as that Atk reduction will come up more often than not.

  • Lightnin Braver (x3) is almost like Torero but way more niche... except we cannot play Torero anymore (actual worst hit btw), and people still set their monsters so it enables Swift Gaia Champion to pierce for big damage.

  • Boltricorn is backrow hate.

  • Flame Ruler is a low level with really good stats that serves as good filler for the deck.

  • Monster Calling (x3) is always good in pure Gaia, with draws and special Curse or Gaia from GY (including the normal Gaia Champion fusion).

  • Dragon's Inferno (x3) is backrow hate. That is also why I am running Fortitude Dragon, as not only is a Dragon (duh), but can dodge Trap Hole.

  • Talismanic (x1) is genuinely the most busted card in the game for several formats, it is baffling this card did not get hit at all but Torero did, actually insulting hit.

  • Forever Freeze is always dead in the mirror but can come up against other decks like Dragons or anything that plays AGG.

  • Buffered Slime is Buffered Slime.

  • Trap Hole is probably the best Legend trap rn but also really tricky to play it, as against a smart player, they can attempt to play around it once they see the delay, but luckily, most Rush players aren't smart enough for that, so the guessing game of "should I hit which backrow" is gone the moment you use TH on an important monster.

I will come back to Dragons if Metarion gets butchered in the next GRF or Worlds.
