Notes & Combos
my 8th KoG with altergeist. not really a good meta for it, too many untargettable monsters & skills that can let decks play through my backrow.
If you're wondering about Wynn: its a tech against Lyrilusc. Usually you end your turn with Silquitous on field and Multifaker on hand, by Normal Summoning faker (or any other low level if you have it), you can go into Wynn, steal a level 1 lyrilusc, Summon Linkuriboh & use wynn & Linkuriboh to go into Ningirsu to out their assembled.

Any particular reason why you aren't running Altergeist Pookuery? I mean I don't necessarily think non-Pookuery builds are bad because without Pookuery, you're playing essentially Hexstia simulator. Again, it's not bad but I play a more aggressive version of Altergeists where I want to sit on Hexstia for one, maybe two turns tops before committing to my Primebanshee + Memorygant play to secure game. I did take Pookuery out and tried it without, but I ended up not liking it because opening a hand composed of Meluseek (or any Altergeist name) + Pookuery to make turn one Hexstia was too good to pass up. Plus, if your opponent deals with the Hexstia and sends her to the graveyard, you get a search regardless so that also means Hexstia shouldn't always be used as a walking backrow negate. Sometimes, it's just best to have Hexstia sitting there as a 1500 vanilla to force your opponent to out it so you get the search, at least that's the way I play this deck, and it's worked for me since I'm currently on a 20 game winstreak and clapping Lyriluscs left and right. It won't be long now till I also hit my monthly King of Games run with my wife's (Ghost Gal's) Altergeist deck.

Also, yeah you're kind of right on the money there. Listen, Altergeists will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I'll keep authoring guides for it on my Twitch stream and my YouTube, but I feel like right now isn't a great meta for this deck. If people actually learn the Lyrilusc combo lines, I feel like a good Lyrilusc player would really be a challenge to Altergeists considering they end on too many untargetable bodies, making it quite difficult for you to deal with. Not just that, but Assembled Nightingale flat out denying you a Battle Phase, or a Meluseek "attack and send," is also pretty problematic to deal with. In the mid game, you want Meluseek to pressure your opponent with direct attacks to pressure cards off the field, but you can't do that under Assembled Nightingale, which is quite sad to think about. You also can't destroy any of their monsters, which once again, means Altergeists aren't in a good position right now.

In conclusion, what Altergeists truly need to "come back" in the metagame is one card, Altergeist Protocol, but I feel like that card might be a bit too broken for Duel Links standards. If your opponent tries to remove your Protocol off the field, Silquitous can grab it right back, not to mention forcing your opponent to play under what is essentially a one-sided Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon negate is quite problematic. Personal Spoofing can also shuffle back that Protocol in the rare case that your opponent tries to banish it with Cosmic Cyclone or something so until we get more actual good answers to Protocol, I feel like (as much as I want Protocol), it can't come to Duel Links until there's more ways to out it. However, as the best Altergeist player here and the one carrying the deck, I'll keep hoping for a potential limit one Altergeist Protocol release in the future. I want something going for my Altergeist deck. More Altergeist support is always a welcome addition to me. I love this deck and Ghost Gal, my waifu. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

To use or not use Pook actually came up several times in discussions between me and Ev1l. To keep it short, he likes his current monster to trap ratios. I’ve also done some testing using Pook, usually cutting whatever one-of trap I was running. Opening monster heavy hands is never fun, even with the mulligan from L5R, and the ratios we both currently run don’t have that issue as often. Ed rn has some personal stuff going on, he said he would be leaving discord temporarily after he posted his KoG list in a discord server. Not sure if he’ll still be reading DLM, but I wanted to give you what I’m fairly sure his response would be
